In order to give you a better understanding of the idea behind the Sovendus network, we need to take a little journey into the past. It all began with ‘Genussreich’, an online shop for selected wines founded by Oliver Stoll, today one of Sovendus’ managing directors. In launching this shop in 1998, Stoll became one of the absolute pioneers of online commerce. While initially lacking a broad customer base, the online shop was able to establish itself over time. Partnerships with companies such as Payback or even AOL brought ‘Genussreich’ a big step forward, yet the question of how best to acquire new customers in the future remained unanswered.
And so the core idea was born – to build a network with other shops such that both they and the online customers could benefit. In practice, this meant giving the customer a voucher for another shop after they had completed their order. The idea for ‘Gutscheinconnection’, a joint venture between Oliver Stoll and the Ulm company ‘Mission-one‘ was founded - and at the same time this remains the basis for our current business model.
Michael Kofluk joined the company as second managing director in 2011, when he took over shares of ‘Mission-one’. At this time the company made the leap into non-German-speaking markets, and ‘Gutscheinconnection’ evolved into Sovendus.
The company has been growing steadily ever since in employees and ideas, innovations and concepts. But we have never lost sight of what lies at the heart of online commerce – those are the roots from which we grew. As a result, our basic principles have always remained the same: ensure there are no risks for the shops and concentrate on a performance-oriented approach, with the aim of keeping the hurdles for new shops as low as possible. Only by staying focused on these principles can we ensure that we remain true to our core belief that each shop in our network can benefit from each other.
Now we are looking forward to further developing our story!
